Scraper for an applicator for a product, applicator assembly comprising such a scraper, and use thereof with cosmetics
The invention relates to stripping means for applying means for a product, in particular cosmetics, to applying compositions comprising such stripping means, and to their use for cosmetics, in particular for applying make-up of the eyelashes.
More in particular, the invention relates to a scraper in the form of an annular sleeve which comprises: an upper portion adapted for attachment by insertion into the neck of a reservoir with a product (liquid or paste), which upper portion is a has a first inscribed inner diameter, a free lower portion that has a second inscribed inner diameter, which is smaller than the first inscribed inner diameter, an intermediate portion that forms an annular fold projecting toward the interior and defining a central narrowing with a third inscribed inner diameter at least equal to the second inscribed inner diameter in rest position, and the annular crease being deformable by axial compression between the upper and lower portions to a scraper position in which the central narrowing is smaller than in the rest position, the central narrowing in the scraper position being a fourth in written inside diameter has smaller than the second and third written inside diameters.
The document JP-U-60 14351 describes an example of a scraper of the aforementioned type, intended for an assembly for receiving mascara, which comprises various annular folds and in particular has the disadvantage that the annular folds become full internally quickly with mascara, which deposits there and prevents the folds from deforming. The effect of the scraper, which is contaminated by deposition of mascara, is thereby deteriorated.
In the case of the compositions for receiving a liquid product provided with a scraper, this phenomenon of contamination by deposition of the product also generally occurs at the level of the neck, because in general the upper part of the scraper is the applicator head of the applicator a relatively important degree of removal when this applicator head is reinserted in the reservoir, leaving a deposit of the product at the neck of the reservoir. This other way of contamination of the neck and the upper part of the scraper is particularly disadvantageous for preserving the product, because over time the seal at the level of the neck can no longer be obtained correctly, which means the quality. of the product. This also makes opening the head difficult.
The present invention has the particular object of reducing these disadvantages.
To that end, a scraper of the present type according to the invention is characterized in that the annular fold is single, and in that the third inscribed inner diameter is larger than the second inscribed inner diameter.
In the context of the present patent application, the term inscribed inner diameter refers to the diameter of an inscribed circle in the inner surface of a wall that defines a passage, that is, the diameter of the larger circle may lie in the cross section of the passage. If the present passage has a circular cross-section, that exactly corresponds to the inner diameter of the passage.
In addition, the aforementioned fourth inscribed inner diameter is to be understood to mean the inscribed inner diameter obtained by the inner surface of the wall which defines the passage at the level of the annular fold at the point of stripping, in the absence of a fixed object that interferes with the narrowing of said annular fold. The concept of the inscribed inner diameter is used here, because according to various embodiments, the brush and / or the scraper and / or the handle can have a non-circular cross-section.
In various embodiments of the scraper according to the invention, one or more of the following measures may ultimately be invoked: the lower part converges to a lower end which limits said second inscribed inner diameter; the lower part is provided with at least one lateral opening; the annular fold of the intermediate portion is provided with at least two lateral openings; the lateral openings of the annular fold each have a maximum width at the height of the central narrowing; the third registered inner diameter is smaller than the first registered inner diameter; the lower portion includes an upper portion, near the intermediate portion, which includes a largest outer width at the first inscribed inner diameter; the annular fold of the intermediate portion comprises external elevations on either side of the central narrowing adapted to abut each other in the scraper position; the scraper is injection molded from a whole and from at least one plastic;
In addition, the invention also has for its object to provide an assembly adapted for applying a product in liquid state (liquid or paste-like) comprising: a reservoir intended to contain said product, the reservoir comprising a neck, a scraper as described above, of which the upper portion is mounted in the neck of the reservoir, an applicator comprising a cap adapted to be removably mounted on the neck of the reservoir, a stem extending through the scraper from the cap when said cap is mounted on the neck and an applicator head, said applicator head having a width greater than the second inscribed inner diameter and adapted for exiting the reservoir and moving through the scraper, exerting a sufficiently large axial force on the lower portion of the scraper axially compressing the annular fold of the intermediate region participated in placing it in its scraper position.
In various embodiments of the mounting assembly according to the invention, one or more of the following measures can ultimately be invoked: the stem has a diameter at most equal to the second inscribed inner diameter; the lower portion of the scraper is sufficiently rigid not to retract on itself when the applicator leaves the reservoir as it moves through said lower portion; the application assembly also includes inter alia the said product contained in the reservoir, which product is selected from a mascara, a lipstick, a bottom layer, an eye shadow, or a cosmetic care product.
Finally, the invention further has the object of using the recording assembly as described above for care and / or make-up, in particular for care and / or make-up of the eyelashes.
Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of one of the embodiments, given as a non-limiting example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.

In the various figures, the same reference numerals refer to identical or corresponding elements.
Figure 1 shows a receiving assembly 1 for a fluid-like product (liquid or paste-like), in particular for cosmetics, in particular for a mascara for applying make-up to the eyelashes, said assembly 1 comprising: a reservoir 2 comprising an annular side wall 3 extends axially, along a central axis X, between a bottom 4 and a neck 5, the neck 5 internally defining a substantially cylindrical central opening 6, an applicator 7.
The applicator 7 may, for example, comprise: a cap 8 made of, for example, plastic or metal, screwed or otherwise detachably mounted on the neck 5, and a stem 9 made of, for example, plastic or metal and supported by the cap 8.
This stem 9 has a certain diameter d (diameter of the circle which is defined around the section of the stem if the stem is not cylindrical) and extends axially along the axis X on the inside of the reservoir 2 up to a free end provided with an application head 10, for example a brush made of, for example, a flexible plastic or otherwise, which is immersed in the mascara M which is located in the reservoir 2. The application head 10 has a width D, in particular an outer diameter D greater than d ( D is the diameter of the circle defined around the circumference of the cross-section of the head 10 if the head is not cylindrical).
As can be seen in Figures 2 to 4, the scraper 11 has the form of an annular sleeve which is molded integrally from a plastic and which extends along the axis X. The scraper 11 can for instance be designed according to known techniques that are known to the person skilled in the art of injection molding, from a single material or from several materials. The plastic materials that form the scraper 11 may, for example, be selected from liquid silicones, polyolefins and polyamides, and mixtures thereof. Examples of possible materials for the scraper include in particular the following polymers:
Styrene / ethylene / butadiene / styrene or SEBS, polyethylene, Centoprene®, Ytrel®, Evopreen®. A particularly advantageous example for manufacture from a single material is a SEBS with a hardness of 45 Shore A.
The scraper means 11 comprises three consecutive portions: an upper portion 12 adapted for attachment by insertion into the neck 5 of the reservoir, an intermediate portion 13 forming a single annular fold 14 protruding toward the interior, and a free lower portion 15 extending into the interior of the reservoir 2.
As can be seen in particular in Figures 1 and 2, the upper part 12 of the scraper may have an annular, cylindrical side wall 16 that is relatively thick so that it has a certain rigidity, which is a close-fitting interlocking connection in the opening 6 of the neck 5. In addition, the side wall 16 can extend radially to the exterior at its upper part, at its upper part, by means of a collar 17 which can bear axially on the free end of the neck 5 of the reservoir, for example for enclosing it in a flat notch 18 arranged at the free end of the neck 5.
Optionally, the central opening 6 of the neck 5 and the outside of the side wall 16 of the upper part 12 may comprise additional elevations which cooperate with each other through a mutually interlocking connection to enable a better attachment of the upper part 12 in the neck 5. to make. The side wall 16 of the upper portion 12 may, for example, comprise an annular outer rib 19 which protrudes into an annular groove 20 recessed in the interior of the neck 5. Notches may similarly be provided on the outside of the side wall 16 to contribute to attaching the upper portion 12 to the neck 5 of the reservoir.
As shown in Figures 2, 4 and 5, the upper part 12 of the scraper defines an inner passage that is cylindrical by rotation about the axis X, comprising a first inner diameter D1. More generally, the inner passage bounded by the upper portion 12 could be provided with a shape that is not rotationally symmetrical about the axis X, in which case the aforementioned first diameter D1 would be the inscribed inner diameter of said inner passage. The diameter D1 can for instance be substantially equal to the diameter D of the application head 10, or slightly larger.
Moreover, as can be seen in particular in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the lower part 15 of the scraper extends into the interior space of the reservoir 2, preferably without contact with the neck 5 of the said reservoir. The lower portion 15 may comprise an annular, cylindrical partition 21 centered about the axis X, which is extended toward the interior of the reservoir 2 by a wall in the form of a truncated cone 22 converging downwards. For example, the inner diameter of the cylindrical wall 21 may be substantially equal to the aforementioned first diameter D1, and the outer diameter D5 of the cylindrical wall 21 (or more generally the width of the upper end of the lower portion 15) is larger than the first diameter D1, such that the lower portion 15 axially abuts the upper portion 12, while the two portions are offset relative to each other during compression of the annular fold of the intermediate portion 13, as will be explained below.
The annular lower end 23 of the wall in the form of a truncated cone 22 defines a circular inner passageway comprising a second diameter D2 smaller than the first diameter D1. The opening bounded by the lower end 23 could possibly not be circular, in which case the second diameter D2 would be the inscribed inner diameter in that opening. The second diameter D2 essentially corresponds to diameter d of the shank 9, or it is slightly larger than the diameter D of the application head 10. The ratio D2 / D is preferably between 0.3 and 0.9. The scraper according to the invention has the advantage of being able to make the scraper power variable over a large value range and, in particular, to have a scraper power that is greater the smaller the values of the ratio D2 / D are. It is thus possible to obtain a scraper power with a scraper means which is equal to the discussed scraper means with lips, and this independently of the shape of the application head. The person skilled in the art can indeed adjust the shape of the central narrowing 26 to the shape of the application head and that with the desired wiping power. Note that the scraper according to the invention is compatible with all types of scrapable application heads, whatever construction or material type may be used, for applying in particular a fluid-shaped (liquid or paste-shaped) product, in particular a cosmetic care and / or or make-up product such as a mascara, a lipstick, an undercoat, an eye shadow, or a cosmetic care product, in particular for the circumference of the eyes.
Advantageously, the lower portion 15 of the scraper may comprise one or more lateral openings 24 which are distributed, preferably symmetrically, about the axis X. These lateral openings 24 are four in number in the example shown in the figures.
These lateral openings 24 can be arranged at least partly in the cylindrical side wall 21 and can advantageously extend into the wall in the form of a truncated cone 22, in the vicinity of the free lower end 23 of the lower part 15.
The lateral openings 24 may have a relatively large cross-sectional area for draining mascara in the direction of the reservoir, but said lateral openings 24 have between them in planar parts 24a forming resistance columns which form the upper end of the portion 15 with connect its lower end 23 and which guarantee the dimensional stability of the lower part 15. To this end, the type of material, the width of the columns 24a, the thickness of the wall of the lower portion 15 (this thickness may possibly be smaller than the thickness of the aforementioned side wall 16, but is preferably greater than the thickness of the wall of the intermediate portion 13) calculated that the lower portion 15 does not return upwards in itself when the applicator head is removed from the reservoir 2.
The intermediate portion 13, as far as this portion is concerned, comprises at least two lateral openings 25 arranged symmetrically about the axis X, as shown in Figs. 2 to 5. The said openings 25 can also be non-symmetrical about the axis X applied. The said openings 25 can also have different shapes. In the example as shown, these openings are four in number and are substantially diamond-shaped. More generally, said lateral openings 25 each have a maximum horizontal width at the narrowing 26 of the annular pleat 14 and narrow in the direction of the upper and lower portion, e.g. substantially over the entire height of the intermediate portion 13. The shape of the openings 25 preferably comprises a maximum width at the height of the central narrowing 26 to promote the deformation of the annular fold 14 when moving from the rest position to the stripping position.
Thus, the distribution of the apertures 25 and the shape of each aperture 25 allows to direct the deformation of the intermediate portion 13 at the level of the annular fold to obtain a central narrowing in the desired shape, such as, for example, a circle in the example as shown. There is no form limitation. However, one could prefer a conventional polygon, such as a square, a rectangle, a diamond or a triangle.
These lateral openings 25 are separated from each other by vertical arms 27 which each connect the lower end of the side wall 16 of the upper portion 12 to the upper end of the cylindrical side wall 21 of the lower portion 15. Each of the vertical arms 27 comprises first and second portions 28, 29 that converge toward the interior and toward the central constriction 26, respectively, from the lower end of the side wall 16 of the upper portion and from the upper end of the cylindrical side wall 21 of the lower portion 15.
The assembly of the four arms 27 essentially forms a converging-diverging system of side walls, the assembly of the first portions of the arms 27 forming a truncated cone-shaped wall converging downwards and the assembly of the second portions 29 of the arms 27 form a wall mainly in the form of a truncated cone that converges upwards.
As can be seen in Figures 2 and 3, the first and second portions 28, 29 of each arm 27 comprise annular outer ribs 30 arranged symmetrically with respect to the central constriction 26 and thus arranged to come into contact with each other when the central pleat 14 is compressed by the coming together of the upper portion 12 and the lower portion 15, as will be explained below. Thanks to these measures, the scraper returns to the rest position automatically, while the brush is no longer in the scraper.
In the resting position of the scraper, the central narrowing 26 of the annular pleat 14 defines a central passage which here has a cross-section related to a circle and which has a third inscribed inner diameter D3. The third inscribed inner diameter D3 is larger than the second inscribed diameter D2 and is generally slightly smaller than the first inscribed inner diameter D1.
The intermediate portion 13 of the scraper has a material thickness that is generally smaller than the upper portion 12 and then the lower portion 15, such that bending of the arms 27 toward the interior is facilitated as the upper portions 12 and 15 have come together. For the same purpose, if the scraper 11 is made of different materials, the intermediate part 13 can optionally be made of a more flexible material than the upper part 12 and the lower part 15.
The recording assembly just described works as follows.
If a user wishes to apply a mascara M to the eyelashes, he takes the application head 10 out of the reservoir 2 through the scraper 11, in the direction of the arrow 31 as shown in Figure 6.
In the course of this movement, as the hairs or spines of the applicator head 10 pass through the lower end 23 of the lower portion when flexing, they push the lower portion 15 back upward, turning the annular fold 14 of the intermediate portion 13 pressed down, the scraper 11 thus being placed in a scraper position, which is clearly visible in Figs. 6 to 9.
In this stripping position, the axial compression involves a narrowing of the central narrowing 26 of this annular fold, and a closure of the lateral openings 25 of this annular fold. The central narrowing 26 then has a fourth inscribed inner diameter D4 which is smaller than the aforementioned second inscribed inner diameter D2. The shape of the central constriction 26 can be essentially circular both in the rest position and in the stripping position, as in the example shown in the figures, but this shape can just as well be non-circular, for example substantially polygonal and in particular substantially square, the annular pleat 14 includes four openings 25 positioned at an angle of 90 ° to each other as the example herein considered. Generally, the cross-section of annular crease 14 may be identical to the cross-section of the applicator head or different (for example, the applicator head may be substantially cylindrical at the circular cross-section and the annular crease 14 substantially square at the cross-section).
In the free state, that is, if the scraper portions 12, 15 have come together axially in the absence of the shank 9, the fourth diameter D4 may be substantially the same as the diameter d of the shank 9, but also a few tenths of millimeters smaller than the diameter d (for example, just 1 or 2 millimeters smaller), such that the central narrowing 26 starts to scrape the application head 10, the surplus of mascara being removed when the latter is taken out. The excess of mascara thus scraped down flows from the annular pleat 14 and returns into the reservoir 2 through the openings 24 of the lower portion 15 and through the open lower portion 23 of said portion 15.
In the course of this phase, the lower portion 15 retains its shape retention as just discussed, without returning upwards to itself, and it is also prevented that the lower portion 15 rises in the interior of the upper portion 12 by axial translation by upper end of the lower portion 15 abuts the lower end of the upper portion 12 and because the ribs 30 or other abutment elevations of the annular pleat 14 contact each other and help to keep the annular pleat 14 in a radial plane.
After the application head 10 has been taken out, the scraper 11 resumes its rest position by natural resilience, and when the user has finished operating with the application means 7, he places it back in its place in the reservoir 2, the application head again in the direction of the interior of the reservoir is moved. When replacing the applicator head 10, it pushes the lower portion 23 toward the reservoir such that the annular fold of the intermediate portion essentially maintains its rest position, or said annular fold is slightly deformed. In these circumstances, the applicator head 10 undergoes virtually no wiping when it is moved into the scraper means 11 toward the interior of the reservoir, and moreover, the shape of the scraper means 11 at rest allows said applicator head 10 to assist in cleaning the inner surface of the scraper during replacement in the reservoir. Thanks to these measures, mascara is prevented from stagnating both at the level of the neck and in the scraper and hardening there.
The scraper according to the invention thus makes it possible to avoid various contamination phenomena and to maintain a constant scraper quality during the entire life of the product.
